"We are very proud and happy for IWPI's relentless journey to produce paintings, while paying attention to its members to become professional women painters and inviting the wider community to appreciate the country's culture," Wiyogo remarked at the opening of the IWPI exhibition entitled, "The Healing Energy of Colors," here on Monday.
The women painters association contributes to national development because they are active in social and environmental movements, as well as educating many communities to cultivate their love for art.
In the exhibition, IWPI implicitly voiced gender equality issues through the paintings created by 60 members and two guest painters. In addition to emphasizing gender equality issues, the exhibition is intended to invite those who are passionate about art to preserve Indonesian culture.
The chairwoman of the exhibition committee, Yana Kurniadi, said the exhibition was presented in gratitude to those women painters who had participated in the long journey of 37 years of IWPI.
"While commemorating the anniversary, IWPI wants to take a role in motivating women in Indonesia to continue creating (artworks) regardless of age," Kurniadi said.
IWPI Chairwoman Janie Noor added that her party always motivates its members to consistently and creatively produce paintings.
Moreover, Noor explained that she pushes its members to keep presenting innovations, in terms of coaching and educating women painters, hence, inspiring many people.
"IWPI wants to continue to exist and inspire the community so that more and more women painters are born in Indonesia," she said.
Meanwhile, IWPI has expanded its scope to the global level through organizing art tours, painting events, and talks that are essential in developing its members' insights.
