"People, who are still immature in understanding others, there would definitely be conflicts. If domestic violence occurs, this must be the peak of inability to tolerate others," Wardoyo explained while responding to the recent news of Indonesian celebrity and singer, who reported her husband over alleged domestic violence.
According to the BKKBN head, in building and fostering relationship with a wedded partner, both parties should not solely rely on physical readiness, such as sufficient age to give birth or have adequate assets or income.
Family development also needs to focus on the mental readiness of each spouse, wherein it can be developed through tolerance for each other's differences through daily get-to-knows.
Wardoyo said that if a person cannot tolerate or understand his or her partner’s differences, then he or she is not mature enough in behavior, which can lead to a conflict that might end in violence.
"We must have high tolerance and that is the concept of having a family. Love is a struggle, in my opinion, so falling in love is just the beginning of the process. Meanwhile, marriage is not the culmination of love, (instead) it is built with the struggle of tolerating each other," he said.
Hence, Hasto urged couples about to marry to not rush into the wedding. He suggests planning all aspects from physical, financial to mental readiness to ensure a quality and prosperous family.
Wardoyo expected people looking to enter marriage to understand earlier how important planning is in starting a family, so that domestic violence cases in Indonesia can be reduced.
