BNPB's Acting Head of the Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said the unique aspect about Bali Province is that in some places, forest areas were still maintained, though the need for space utilization had also increased.
"There are several areas that were possible to be used as water buffers, though now, they have been reduced. We must also be aware of the potential for massive wet hydrometeorological disasters because in the past two weeks that disaster became significant in Bali," Muhari stated during the Disaster Briefing here, on Tuesday.

He noted that floods in Bali rarely occurred, but the impact could damage the road in Jembrana District that disrupted the traffic from Ketapang to Gilimanuk.
"We have to be aware of this since Bali will be hosting the G20 Summit on November 14-16. The BNPB has taken precautionary steps," he noted.
He stated that efforts to reduce the potential impact of the wet hydrometeorological disaster necessitated the participation of the provincial government until the community level.
Moreover, he advised immediate anticipation both in terms of structural and non-structural mitigation for dangerous environmental conditions, such as landslide potential or bare cliff slopes.

The BNPB assessed that areas in the districts of Karangasem and Bangli are not prone to environmental vulnerability, such as floods. He noted that the risk of flooding is only around the river.
Hence, the BNPB is still studying the analysis of the causes of flooding at locations that are not prone to floods.
"(It is) because the flood in Bali is quite massive. It is like a flash flood. We have to look at the headwaters of our rivers," he stated.
