"The five KPK leaders will be the helmsmen to rescue Indonesia from corruption," Bahuri stated after attending the ceremony for inaugurating Johanis Tanak as the new KPK deputy head for the remainder of the 2019-2023 term on Friday.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) earlier inaugurated Tanak at the State Palace here Friday, completing the formation of the KPK leadership following the resignation of Lili Pintauli Siregar after receiving gratification from a state company.
He highlighted that just like him, Tanak too had participated in the KPK leadership selection in 2019, and both of them were among the top 20 candidates.
"We attended the fit and proper test together at that time, yet he was not among the selected ones. Praise be to God, today, he finally joined us," Bahuri stated.
The completed formation of the KPK leadership will support each other by synergizing and collaborating to achieve the common goal, he noted.
"I have a police background because I spent 37 years as a police investigator. Mr Johanis Tanak, who has a background at the attorney general's office, would understand the construction of a case. The case construction is what we will present at the trial process," the KPK head said.

Meanwhile, after his inauguration as KPK deputy head, Johanis Tanak reiterated his commitment to eradicating corruption in Indonesia is in line with the other KPK leadership according to prevailing laws and regulations.
"If we committed to observing the prevailing laws, we will not do any undesirable things," he affirmed.
The House of Representatives (DPR RI) earlier selected Johanis Tanak as the new KPK deputy head at a plenary session on September 29, 2022, following a fit and proper test that pitted Tanak against State Audit Board (BPK) official I Nyoman Wara.
