Jakarta (ANTARA) - District Head of Tangerang Ahmed Zaki Iskandar shed light on the condition of Mauk Sub-district while addressing delegates of the 2022 PEMSEA Network of Local Governments (PNLG).

In his presentation, Iskandar revealed that Mauk is an underdeveloped area, according to a release posted by the PEMSEA PNLG on its official website.

Mauk is an area, with a poor population and large amounts of solid waste. This location also experienced a kilometer-long coastal abrasion and tidal flooding.

“Today, I want to tell you about Mauk Sub-district, this is in the north-central (area) of Tangerang District. This is an underdeveloped area, far from the metropolitan area. Since the past 10 years, we have been striving to build Mauk,” he noted at the Mauk sub-district office on Friday (Oct 28).

Five programs are implemented for ushering in development in Mauk Sub-district, especially Ketapang Village. The first is Gebrak Pakumis Plus (Joint Movement of the People, Overcome Dense, Slum and Poor Areas) that handles problems in slum areas, such as uninhabitable houses, poor infrastructure, and utilities.

The second program is Gerbang Mapan (Coastal Community Development Movement) that accelerates the growth of coastal community infrastructure, while the third is Tangerang Mantap (Tangerang Mandiri, Food Security) that is developing an agropolitan area, with focus on developing horticultural centers.

The other program is Kembangku (Development of Cooperatives and SMEs), specifically microeconomic development for low-income people, while the fifth is Proaktif (Creative and Innovative Action Program), where every sub-district and village is encouraged to have superior products having local characteristics and potentials.

“This story is a Tangerang Initiative that invites people and communities to increase income by creating jobs and building health facilities for good services,” the vice president of PNLG stated.
