For Lombok, in 2022, the certification target is 2,300 tourism workers, and in 2023, there will be 3,900 tourism workers (targeted)Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno stated that 2,000 workers in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), have been certified with tourism certification, from national to ASEAN standards, in 2022.
“For Lombok, in 2022, the certification target is 2,300 tourism workers, and in 2023, there will be 3,900 tourism workers (targeted),” he said at the “Tourism Human Resources Competency Certification for Tour Guides” event in Lombok, NTB, as quoted from his official statement here on Sunday.

According to him, those certified tourism human resources are expected to meet the tourism industry and businesses’ needs for competent and competitive workers.
The 2,000 workers consist of workers in hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and spas, as well as tour guides.
To achieve the target, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy held the “Tourism Human Resources Competency Certification for Tour Guides” event by cooperating with the Cakra Wisata Indonesia Professional Certification Institution (LSP), industries, associations, and the NTB government.
The program covers upskilling, reskilling, and new skilling that aim to make tourism and creative economy human resources become excellent, competent, and competitive.

The tourism human resources competency certification program was conducted in six priority tourism destinations, namely Lake Toba in North Sumatra; Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi; Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara; Lombok in NTB; Borobudur-Yogyakarta-Prambanan in Yogyakarta and Central Java; and Bromo-Tengger-Semeru in East Java.
The ministry is targeting at least 18 thousand tourism workers to be certified throughout 2022 and 27 thousand workers to be certified in 2023.
The minister encouraged the activity to be continued to reach the target of certified tourism workers in 2022, especially in Lombok.
“As of today, the target realization has reached 74 percent, and there is 26 percent left that needs to be pursued. This certification is part of the recovery and productivity improvement in the tourism sector so that our human resources can become competitive,” he remarked.
