The promotion is carried out by opening booths at several G20 meeting places, such as at the G20 Sherpa meeting location at Intercontinental Jimbaran Bali and the arrival and departure gates of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
“We want to maximize the dissemination (of information) about the ANOC World Beach Games 2023 in the momentum of G20. Today, we are at the G20 Sherpa meeting location to disseminate that Indonesia will become the host of the second edition of AWBG next year in Bali,” KOI General Chairperson Raja Sapta Oktohari said at a press conference followed online on Sunday.
He added that the promotion activities are carried out as a way to promote that Bali has been reopened for foreign tourists and can host international sports events again after previously being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oktohari further noted that the presence of KOI at G20 meetings is also an opportunity to meet with the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, who is scheduled to give a speech at one of the G20 events held ahead of the G20 Summit.
“We together with IOC member Erick Thohir will pick up the IOC President who will attend and give a speech at a G20 forum. Then there is also FIFA President Gianni Infantino who will be involved and participate in the G20," he said.
AWBG is the largest multi-beach sports event which will be attended by around 1,500 athletes from more than 130 countries.
The event will also be attended by representatives from 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), 36 international sports federations from various countries, as well as high-ranking officials of international sports organizations including from IOC and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Indonesia will host the second edition of the AWBG on August 5-12, 2023, in Bali. The event will feature 14 sports, namely aquathlon, beach handball, beach soccer, beach tennis, 4×4 beach volley, beach water polo, beach wrestling, karate (individual kata event), kiteboarding, open water swimming (5-kilometer swimming event), 3x3 basketball, beach sprint rowing, surfing, and air badminton.
