"The aid for hundreds of livestock included chickens, ducks, and goats. Aside from livestock, the Social Affairs Ministry also disbursed business capital," head of the East Aceh Social Affairs Office, Elfiandi, said on Tuesday.
The beneficiary families who received the assistance were residents of Gampong Seuneubok Simpang, Darul Aman district, East Aceh, he informed.
According to Elfiandi, the assistance was allocated based on suggestions made by the community through the village head, which were recommended by the sub-district administration as well as the East Aceh Social Affairs Office to the ministry.
"Before the social assistance was distributed, beneficiaries were verified and underwent an assessment by the Social Affairs Ministry team. This was to make sure that the beneficiaries were truly those who were eligible (for it) and their needs for assistance were truly met," he said.
Each beneficiary family received 53 chickens and 53 ducks, he informed. As for beneficiary families who were provided goats, each received five.
"For the chicken and duck assistance, there were several beneficiary families. As for the goats, there were only three beneficiary families," he said.
Apart from livestock, the ministry also disbursed assistance in form of business capital to people selling snacks as well as food and soft drinks at kiosks, he added.
“The Social Affairs Ministry's assistance was handed over to the directorate of remote indigenous community empowerment (KAT) and social entrepreneurship of the Directorate General of Social Empowerment’s team,” he said.
