The minister made this statement during a meeting with the ranks of the Jakarta City Transportation Council (DTKJ).
Rismaharini emphasized that special transportation for persons with disabilities was necessary and should be fulfilled, considering the diversity of disabilities with all their needs.
"We must be able to provide transportation with easy access for people with disabilities, not only for those who are physically challenged but also to those, who are blind, and others too," the minister noted in a written statement received here, Thursday.

The minister suggested that DTKJ could encourage relevant stakeholders to provide special buses for people with disabilities by serving various routes in the capital.
This also demonstrates the Indonesian government's commitment in implementing one of the clauses of the Jakarta Declaration on the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities 2023–2032 that was approved by member countries of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) last October.
The point of this commitment is the availability of accessibility for persons with disabilities, one of which is through public transportation.
Meanwhile, Chairman of DTKJ, Haris Muhammadun, remarked that his side had initiated the DTKJ Awards as a barometer for organizing transportation for disabilities.
Hence, this event is expected to become a driving force for fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities in transportation, especially in Jakarta.
The DTKJ Award will be divided into two activities comprising a discussion forum on integrated transportation towards the Inclusive City Jakarta and award of appreciation in seven categories to transportation operators, who have provided disability-friendly infrastructure.
DTKJ members -- Riko Bimo Ridjla Badri andAjad Sudrajad -- were also part of the audience.
