Jakarta (ANTARA) - The result of the 2021 Children and Teenagers Life Experience National Survey (SNPHAR) highlighted that in general, the prevalence of violence against children had decreased in comparison with surveys in the previous years.

"Despite this, the figure is still concerning," Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga stated during the "2021 SNPHAR Data Processing and Analysis Result Launching" event here on Wednesday.

To this end, strong effort and synergy between ministries, private sector, non-governmental organizations, child activists, and the public is necessary in fighting violence against children.

Fulfilling children's special rights and protection is very important to ensure that they can grow and develop optimally, she noted.

"This is also undertaken, so that they are protected from various forms of violence, discrimination, and exploitation," she remarked.

Protection for children, as a very vulnerable group against violence, is part of the fulfillment of human rights guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution, the minister stated.

The Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry released the 2021 Children and Teenagers Life Experience National Survey on Wednesday.

The ministry expects that the survey will provide a more comprehensive description of the issue of violence against children.

The 2021 SNPHAR is also important in helping understand the scale of violence against children as a foundation in developing policies and programs to handle and prevent violence against children.

The 2021 SNPHAR is also expected to play a strategic role to measure the implementation result of child protection programs, Puspayoga said.

Moreover, the survey is expected to provide targets for child protection implementation planning and serve as an input to improve application of the child protection system, she added.
