Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture pressed stakeholders to continually adopt the Healthy Lifestyle Initiative in their respective scopes to support the realization of great and productive human resources.

"The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture continues to push for better commitment of ministries and agencies in implementing the Healthy Living Community Movement or Germas," coordinating deputy for health quality improvement and population development at the ministry Agus Suprapto stated at the Healthy Lifestyle Initiative Award (Germas Award) event accessed here on Tuesday.

The award event was hosted as a means to those ends, he noted.

"The Germas Award is a conferment from President Joko Widodo to the best ministries and institutions that have adopted the culture of Healthy Lifestyle Initiative, (and) this awarding charter was handed over in person by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy," he remarked.

Suprapto said that the award conferment aimed at motivating all sectors in campaigning for the importance of such culture or lifestyle.

"In other words, the success of the Healthy Lifestyle Initiative requires cross-sectoral commitment and synergy from the central to regional (scopes)," he remarked.

He stated that the initiative aimed to encourage people to live the healthy way and let go of unhealthy habits and behaviors.

"This initiative is also followed by promoting clean living behavior and support for community-based infrastructure programs in accordance with Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2017 about Healthy Lifestyle Initiative," he stated.

The government expects the control of non-transmittable diseases to run effectively and efficiently through this initiative.

Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2017 on the Healthy Lifestyle Initiative instructs all ministries, institutions, and regional governments to collaborate and take actions in accordance with their duties and functions to pursue the program's success, he affirmed.

"The manifestation of the initiative can be done through increasing physical activity, improving healthy lifestyle, providing healthy food and accelerating nutrition improvement, increasing prevention and early detection of disease, improving environmental quality, and increasing education on healthy living," he concluded.

As many as five ministries and institutions were selected as the five best agencies in this program: Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry, Defense Ministry, National Police, Maritime Security Agency, and Corruption Eradication Commission.
