Depok, West Java (ANTARA) - The Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Indonesia (FEB UI) has expressed its commitment to educating and producing international standard human resources (HR) capable of facing challenges posed by future global economic uncertainty.

To achieve this, FEB UI is focusing on the development of five skills or capabilities to prepare students to deal with all kinds of changes, Dean of FEB UI Teguh Dartanto said at the commemoration of the EB Faculty's 72nd anniversary at the UI Campus here on Thursday,

He then outlined five fundamental human skills.

“Actually, there are five skills that must be prepared to face global uncertainties in the future. Therefore, education in Indonesia must focus on the basic things of these human skills," he said.

The first is the capability to solve problems with critical thinking and creativity.

Second, human resources must be more resilient and tough. This, according to Teguh Dartanto, requires persistence, adaptability, and also the spirit to not be afraid of failure and to have the courage to try.

The third is the capability to work together with other people from diverse backgrounds. Hence, what is needed are quality communication skills, the desire to build collaboration, and mutual understanding, he said.

The fourth is the capability to understand and improve a situation to make it more ideal. Therefore, human resources from FEB UI are being instilled with high social awareness. The fifth is the capability to exert social influence.

"This means that what are required by human resources who have a contribution with the social impact are initiatives and leadership. These five skills are the focus for preparing future human resources from FEB UI so they can face all kinds of changes that exist globally," he informed.
