Jakarta (ANTARA) - The State-Owned Social Security Agency (BPJAMSOSTEK) has provided nutrition improvement aid in the form of foods and multivitamins to workers who process hazardous and toxic (B3) waste.

According to a statement issued by the agency on Friday, the aid has been provided as part of promotional and preventive activities so that workers in hazardous areas can remain fit through adequate nutritional and vitamin intake.

The aid comprised 105 nutritional food packages containing 5 kilograms of rice, 2 liters of cooking oil, 1 can of sardines, 1 kg of sugar, and 1 bottle of multivitamin C.

Jakarta Gambir BPJAMSOSTEK head Chairu Arianto said that the aid has been provided to improve and maintain the immunity of workers who process hazardous and toxic materials so that they can stay productive.

The provision of food and multivitamins is a form of BPJAMSOSTEK's compassion toward workers and their families who are the agency's members, he added.

He then urged the people, especially workers, to always take care of their health and make sure that they become BPJAMSOSTEK members.

Membership to the agency is a normative right given that work-related risks, such as accidents and death, are present at all times and everywhere, he said.

Jakarta Gambir BPJAMSOSTEK handed over the aid for workers to the HR representative of PT Universal Eco Pasific (UEP), Trie Astria Setiawati, who expressed her gratitude for BPJAMSOSTEK's compassion in providing the aid.

"We are very grateful given that the rainy weather condition causes workers to become vulnerable against diseases," she explained.

Employee representatives from the company and Jakarta Gambir BPJAMSOSTEK also attended the handover event.

In addition, BPJAMSOSTEK informed that program members can submit claims under the Old-Age Insurance Program online through the Jamsostek Mobile (JMO) application, the website www.bpjsketenagakerjaan.go.id, or the 175 call center number.
