"That data has been verified, so there is no duplicate data," he informed in a statement received here on Wednesday.
The 2024 voters list has been sourced from the population data for the first half of 2022, which has been verified by the Home Affairs Ministry through a centralized Population Administration Information System, and the validity of data has been further strengthened through the electronic ID card recording process.
The data has also been updated and adjusted to dynamics such as death, migration, and recording of electronic ID cards until December 2022.
"We have ensured it; it has been anticipated; there is no (duplicate data)," he reiterated.
However, given the rampant population dynamics, it is necessary to update data changed due to such factors, he said.
This can be done regularly every six months by the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration of the Home Affairs Ministry. The goal is to keep voter data up-to-date so as to ensure its accuracy.
"We will continue to update. We will work with the Home Affairs Ministry and the General Election Commission for this process leading up to the event of simultaneous elections on February 14, 2024," he added.
Meanwhile, KPU chairperson Hasyim Asy'ari said that the list, which has been submitted to the government, will undergo a matching and research process.
The process is part of the General Elections voter list update and compilation.
As per the mandate of Law Number 7 of 2017 about General Elections, the Home Affairs Ministry has provided the voters list for the 2024 elections to the commission. The data covers 204,656,053 potential voters.
It consists of 102,181,591 men and 102,474,462 women. The data also covers 38 provinces, including four new autonomous regions —South Papua, Central Papua, Highland Papua, and Southwest Papua— as well as 514 districts and cities.
