Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah handed over scholarships for 221 children of the members of the Panasonic Gobel Workers' Union Federation (FSPPG) here on Friday.

The children included those studying at the level of elementary schools to universities.

She lauded the attempt since it could help encourage the development of Indonesia and realize the 2045 Advanced Indonesia vision.

"If everyone contributes to the education sector in this nation, (I) have faith and believe that we will realize an advanced Indonesia," she said.

Furthermore, the awarding of the scholarship would also encourage the establishment of harmonious industrial relations within the company, she added.

The minister said that the advancement of Indonesia cannot be achieved by the government alone, but requires the assistance of all stakeholders throughout the country, including the industrial community.

"Indonesia is a great nation, which needs positive energy from its people to build its greatness," she added at an event held to disburse scholarships to the children of FSPPG members.

She said that Indonesia recently succeeded in hosting and chairing the G20 presidency – this success was an important capital for Indonesia to become a developed country by 2045.

Indonesia is also estimated to experience a demographic bonus in 2045 -- a condition when the number of the productive age population is larger than the non-productive ones.

One of the demographic bonus management attempts is to prepare educated, superior, and competent human resources.

Hence, it is hoped that the provision of scholarships to the children of the trade union members will help encourage the optimization of Indonesia's demographic bonus, Fauziyah added.

Earlier, she said that the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 concerning the revitalization of vocational education and vocational training was one of the attempts to optimize the demographic bonus.

Vocational education and training encouraged by the government are oriented toward the needs of the business, industrial, and entrepreneurship sectors.
