The social assistance to control inflation was allocated for people whose areas were impacted by flood some time ago
Pontianak, West Kalimantan (ANTARA) - West Kalimantan Governor Sutarmidji allocated social assistance to control inflation in the Fishermen's Village, Sungai Kupah Village, Sungai Kakap Sub-district, Kubu Raya District.

"The social assistance to control inflation was allocated for people whose areas were impacted by flood some time ago. The 250 packages of aid consist of food ingredients, comprising five kg of rice, two kg of sugar, one liter of premium cooking oil, and 10 packs of instant noodles," the governor stated on Saturday.

On the occasion, he also inaugurated the Sungai Kupah Village Road spanning 800 meters long and four meters wide.

"Here, there is a lean concrete program for public road access, so that cars can pass through it. Hopefully, this year there will be labor intensive work, (so that) the remaining 900 meters of unpaved concrete road can be completed," he noted.

Sutarmidji remarked that Sungai Kupah Village was a mangrove tourist village that was expected to become a tourist destination for the people of Pontianak.

"Mangrove conservation using the Sipohon Kalbar application continues because digital planting does not exist anywhere other than West Kalimantan. Moreover, this is already known by the coordinating minister for economic affairs. If it is consistently developed, it is (very likely) that this village will (garner attention). If that was the case, then tourists will come here, and thus, it can improve the people's economy," he stated.

The governor urged people, who had yet to register for their health insurance (BPJS), to do the needful without further ado while also reminding people to take care of their health.

"Head of village, just suggest health insurance for residents here. If you get it, thank God. If you do not get it, at least the proposal has been issued. When there is a quota, just input it," he remarked.

He also reminded parents to pay attention to their children's education and to ensure they do not drop out of school, as education is important for a child's future.

"Hence, the children have to go to school, parents have to pay attention to the education of their children, particularly since now that public high schools and vocational schools are free. If you cannot afford uniforms, tell the headmaster, we (the West Kalimantan Government) will prepare them later," he concluded.
