"We were able to contribute PNBP to the state treasury amounting to 119.37 percent of the PNBP target of Rp5.54 trillion," Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya stated during a work meeting with Commission IV of the House of Representatives in Jakarta, Wednesday.
The description of the PNBP includes payments from natural resources in the forestry sector in the form of forest resources fees, reforestation funds, and fees for business permits for forest utilization to the tune of Rp2.93 trillion.
Thereafter, PNBP originating from the use of forest areas is Rp2.93 trillion, while another PNBP amounted to Rp519.27 billion, and general PNBP is Rp202.12 billion.
In 2023, the ministry has set a plan for revenue from the PNBP of Rp5.2 trillion, with the largest proportion being the reforestation funds of 35.08 percent, use of forest areas of 30.54 percent, and forest resources fee of 29.95 percent.
The increased revenue as compared to the previous year illustrates the increased production of goods and services in the environment and forestry sub-sector.
All revenues come from the PNBP, taking into account log production to meet the processed wood exports and natural tourism visits. The figure for 2023 increased by 1.9 percent as compared to last year's figure.
Apart from depositing revenues into the state treasury and submitting a revenue plan for this year, the minister also revealed the positive budget realization achievement over the past year.
From the budget of Rp6.5 trillion, some 97.58 percent, or the equivalent of Rp6.3 trillion, was realized. The figure is higher as compared to the national average that is only 94.95 percent.
"We also report on the assessment of the Audit Board (BPK), with unqualified opinion, for six consecutive years from 2017 to 2022," Nurbaya stated.
Furthermore, Nurbaya said that the environment and forestry sector continued its positive performances by consistently contributing to Indonesia's economic growth to continue to grow and become more resilient.
Until the third quarter of 2022, contributions from the environment and forestry sector to the national gross domestic growth was Rp87.56 trillion. The figure increased 4.8 percent as compared to the contributions in the same period in 2021, which was only Rp83.33 trillion, Nurbaya pointed out.
