"We hope the government and the KPK's efforts will, at least, if they cannot eliminate, (then) minimize (or) further narrow the possibility of corruption," Amin noted in a press statement at the Syamsudin Noor Air Force Base here on Friday.
Amin said this in response to a recent statement by Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin, who believes that no region in Indonesia is free from corruption, including the ranks of the prosecutor's office in the regions.
Amin believes that efforts to reduce opportunities for corruption can be made by building areas free from corruption and anti-corruption zones.
"Then also make various (other efforts), including by simplifying our services," he stated.
"For example, by (building) a Public Service Mall (MPP), so that the service is carried out in a sustainable manner, and thus, it can be accessed directly, quickly, and cheaply, and there are no illegal fees and so on," he remarked.
Amin said this was one of the systems that the government was building to minimize opportunities for corruption to occur and was assisted by support from the KPK as an independent agency tasked with eradicating criminal acts of corruption.
"We know that the KPK carries out the functions of education, prevention, and prosecution. These three (functions) are carried out by the KPK simultaneously, and that is part of the efforts to suppress (and) minimize corruption," he affirmed.
Speaking in connection with the statement by Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanudin, Ma'ruf Amin said this was evaluation material to see the progress in efforts to eradicate corruption in the country.
"(For) problems related to opinions or personal views, we will see how they develop," Vice President Amin stated.
