Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Information Ministry has encouraged active participation among sectors to ensure the effective implementation of the Personal Data Protection (PDP) Law in Indonesia.

"The ministry requires inputs in the formulation of an implementation regulation related to the PDP Law,” director general of informatics application at the Communication and Information Ministry, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, said in a statement released by the ministry on Thursday.

He was quoted as delivering his remarks at a public discussion on the implementation of PDP Law in Bekasi city in West Java, earlier Thursday.

"This is because each sector has its own characteristics, business models, and business processes," he explained.

Several parties were involved in the discussion, including government representatives such as the acting director of informatics application management at the ministry, Teguh Arifiyadi.

The government representatives also included data and information management deputy director at the National Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan), Doni Hendrawan.

Representatives from the private sector included Deloitte's data privacy and protection associate director, Eryk Budi Pratama, as well as Tokopedia's head of data privacy, Irene Suryadi.

Pangerapan urged all representatives participating in the discussion to share their opinions and views so that they can support the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Law.

"I expect that the result of this discussion can be beneficial in the implementation of the (law on) personal data protection in Indonesia," he added.

Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection was officially ratified on October 17, 2022. In general, the regulation was prepared to regulate personal data protection in Indonesia's digital space.
