Regional governments are expected to immediately form a TKDV to align vocational education and training programs in the regions with the regional (offices of) the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has asked regional governments to form regional coordination teams for vocational education and vocational training revitalization (TKDV) without delay in their respective regions.

"Regional governments are expected to immediately form a TKDV to align vocational education and training programs in the regions with the regional (offices of) the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin)," he said here on Tuesday.

He made the statement after the launch of Presidential Regulation Number 68 of 2022 on the revitalization of vocational education and vocational training.

Hartarto, who also serves as director of the national vocational coordination team (TKNV), said that the presidential regulation requires regional heads to form TKDVs promptly.

He informed that the presidential regulation is an "umbrella" for cooperation between schools and private parties, especially for revitalizing vocational school education.

He said that the coordination and synergy related to vocational education and training will be carried out by the TKNV and orchestrated through the presidential regulation.

Synergy, collaboration, and cooperation are needed from all stakeholders to make the revitalization of vocational schools and training successful, he added.

"The success of the revitalization of vocational (school and training) needs the active role of all parties, including regional governments, the world of business, and the world of industry, such as Kadin Indonesia, in supporting vocational education and training," he said.

He further said that the paradigm of vocational education and training must be directed and oriented toward the needs of the labor market, including the global market.

"To this end, a comprehensive labor market information system and projection of future needs are urgently needed to serve as a reference in organizing vocational education and training," he said.

The minister assessed that Indonesia's demographic dividend presents a challenge as well as an opportunity to improve the competency of the country's human resources.

"The government has paid great attention to the development of human resources through vocational programs, one of which is by revitalizing the education of vocational schools," he said.
