"According to (experience) of hosting Domestic Product Business Matching in 2022 as well as considering the existing challenges, the Industry Ministry deems it necessary to (emulate) another collaborative event of that kind as an implementation to the domestic products' purchase on a national scale," Secretary General of the Industry Ministry Dody Widodo noted in an official statement received here on Monday.
According to Widodo, some of the improvements deemed necessary for the program include detailed planning to ensure that the domestic industry can meet the demands.
The other necessary improvisation is to insert details on the batch of procurement so as to ensure that the demands of products in the said batch can be met with domestic products, he explained.
Moreover, there should be assurance that the realization of domestic products' purchase had truly met the set target and standards, Widodo stated.
"There are also other issues that need to be studied further and resolved to better promote domestic products' use until it becomes something normal in government items or services' procurement," he highlighted.
In March 2022, the ministry had hosted the 2022 Domestic Product Business Matching in Bali that recorded Rp214 trillion (US$14 billion) in purchase commitment. The event was held in four stages until October 2022.
In addition to national-scale business matching, some of the regional governments and ministries and institutions are routinely hosting business matching with business players to meet each institution's needs.
The 2023 Business Matching Domestic Products initiative aims to facilitate a meeting between entities using domestic products -- institutions, regional governments, and companies -- with the domestic industry players.
The event will take place on March 15-17, 2023, at the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace, Jakarta. The ministry is collaborating with the Defense Ministry in hosting the event.
