Jakarta (ANTARA) - Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo has informed that 34,784 tons of frozen beef and buffalo meat have been made available in Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi), Batam, Gresik, and Bali to meet Eid al-Fitr demand.

"I ensure that the availability of meat and live cattle is currently in a sufficient position; even until this April, there is sufficient overstock," he said in a statement released here on Saturday.

According to him, reporting of stocks by business players is routinely being carried out online through the SIMREK PKH application of the Agriculture Ministry. Therefore, the data on the stock is safe and reliable.

Limpo also directly inspected the stocks of meat at the cold storage of PT. Dua Putra Perkasa Pratama in Rawalumbu Sub-district, Bekasi City, West Java.

The company, which obtains beef from Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, has 15 thousand tons of beef and five thousand tons of chicken meat in stock.

"In that place, I ensure it (the stock) is ready to support the government in supplying beef to meet the needs of the community. Thus, in general, there is no problem with our beef availability. The community should not worry; inshallah (if God wills), until Eid it is sufficient," he remarked.

In addition, the government will continue to strengthen the distribution of meat, both to big markets and other markets in the Jabodetabek area, including markets in islands other than Java, such as Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Sumatra. That way, the stock of meat will be equally distributed across Indonesia.

"At the level of main suppliers or distributors, the prices are still relatively under control, the dynamic of the range is still normal. However, we will strengthen the position of the distribution, both to main markets and other regions so that all the data and the validation (of stock) that we found match," he said.
