Hannover, German (ANTARA) - A total of 19 new cooperation agreements have been signed during the Hannover Messe 2023 event, according to an official at the Industry Ministry.

"One of Indonesia's participation targets, as a partner country in Hannover Messe 2023, is the realization of industry and foreign investment cooperation," said Eko S. A. Cahyanto, the ministry's Director General of Resilience, Territory and International Industrial Access, on Sunday.

Hannover Messe is the world's leading trade fair for industry which features four thousand companies from various fields that showcase their technologies and solutions for a connected and climate-neutral industry.

The 19 cooperation agreements comprise three government-to-business (G2B) agreements and 13 business-to-business (B2B) agreements, he said.

The agreements signed on Sunday encompass cooperation in semiconductors, solar power, medical devices, waste management, chemical industry, development of CNC milling, Internet of Things, digital industry, and electric vehicle charging and battery systems.

Moreover, agreements were signed for cooperation in areas, such as investment and industrial parks, energy sustainability and transition, human resources, as well as start-ups and innovation.

The signing of industry cooperation will result in several improvements and also open up broader industry market access.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that Hannover Messe 2023 will bring significant investment value.

"Through the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that had officially been agreed upon, an investment of Rp30 trillion (US$2.03 billion) will enter Indonesia," he stated.

"We certainly expect that through the Hannover Messe, there will be even more investment," he remarked.

International Economic Cooperation Coordination Deputy at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Edi Prio Pambudi, expects that the cooperation signing will lead to more cooperation agreements in the future.

"Today's signing is the first step of a journey. After this, more cooperation (agreements) are expected to be formed, given that Indonesia and Germany are close collaboration partners," Pambudi stated.

Hannover Messe 2023 was opened by Indonesian President Joko Widodo and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Sunday evening local time, followed by the opening of the Indonesian Pavilion on Monday morning.
