Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has tasked state-owned postal service company, PT Pos Indonesia, with distributing basic food assistance fund worth Rp39.8 billion to pensioners of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo), a state-owned maritime company.

Head of the Social Assistance Task Force of PT Pos Indonesia, Hendra Sari, explained that the service company has received a fund allocation for 10,112 Pelindo pensioners, wherein each of them will receive Rp3,850,000.

"This assistance money was given in order to welcome Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijriah. The total aid is Rp 38.9 billion," Sari noted in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday.

Pos Indonesia began distributing the Pelindo basic food assistance fund on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. He expects the distribution to be conducted until April 20, 2023.

"Hopefully, the money can be collected by the recipient before Idul Fitri," he remarked.

According to Sari, the realization of Pelindo basic food assistance had reached 55 percent in just two days.

"As per today's position (Wednesday, April 19), 55 percent of the funds have been disbursed, or to around 5,600 recipients," Sari remarked.

In distributing the Pelindo basic food assistance, he said, Pos Indonesia implemented two distribution patterns that are being picked up at the Post Office and delivered directly to the recipient's house.

To make it easier for pensioners to withdraw funds, he said, Pos Indonesia has mapped the payment location closest to the pensioners' addresses.

Sari appealed to recipients to immediately disburse the Pelindo basic food assistance at the Post Office before Eid.

"Hopefully, after payment, there are no complaints, and the money will be counted in front of the postal staff," he remarked.

After the distribution of Pelindo basic food assistance, it is hoped that government ministries and agencies will continue to trust Pos Indonesia with the distribution of various other assistance funds.

"PT Pos Indonesia has proven capable of delivering assistance with strong accountability and quickly. This is proof that PT Pos can distribute it quickly and accurately," Sari stated.
