Bandar Lampung, Lampung (ANTARA) - Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto has appealed to Eid al-Fitr exodus travelers or returnees to rest and not force themselves to continue their trip if they are feeling unwell.

"Do not force yourself if your body is not in a fit condition, especially (since) currently, the weather is hot. Thus, please rest first," he said here on Tuesday.

Exodus travelers can use the posts that have been readied along the exodus routes to rest for a while and recover before continuing their return journey, he added.

Suharyanto also asked exodus travelers to pay attention to the weather during the return trip.

"For information, indeed, there is currently a shift from rainy to dry season, so it must be a concern. I hope exodus travelers who use motorcycles or four-wheeled vehicles remain careful during the journey," he said.

The BNPB head underlined that from the Eid exodus departure period to the current exodus return period, there have been no significant disaster incidents. Though a 7.3-magnitude earthquake was reported in Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra, there have been no reports of damage or deaths so far.

"We have monitored the exodus flow in Java, Bali, and Lampung; there have been no significant incidents," he said.

He informed that later, his agency will review the situation at Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) even though there have been no reports regarding an increase in volcanic activity.

"Hopefully, the return flow will be as smooth as the departure," he said.

For this year's Eid al-Fitr, the government has projected that the number of exodus travelers will reach 123 million, based on a survey of potential people's movement during the Eid period.

The figure reflects an increase compared to the number of exodus travelers in 2022, which stood at 85 million.
