Labuan Bajo (ANTARA) - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin on Monday lauded all those who have contributed to efforts to establish heart care services at Komodo Regional Hospital, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.

"Thank you for friends here who have worked very hard to complete the space. This tool is a tool with high precision; so expensive that it cost billions. It's immediately set up, and right now, it's just for the software to be installed," the minister noted during a visit to the hospital on Monday.

He arrived at Labuan Bajo at 4 p.m. local time and immediately headed to the region-owned general hospital to conduct a review.

During the review, he was accompanied by Head of West Manggarai district Edistasius Endi and Director of Komodo Regional Hospital Ermelinda Gampar.

After inspecting the lobby, he made his way to the heart cauterization laboratory.

During his visit to Labuan Bajo a few weeks earlier, the space was still being prepared.

On Monday, he inspected the completed space with a host of facilities and expressed amazement over it.

Minister Sadikin also held a discussion with a cardiologist, Dr. I. Kadek Susila Surya Darma, and a neurologist, Dr. Angga Krishna, both of whom were dispatched from Prof. Ngoerah Hospital in Bali to assist the hospital at Labuan Bajo.

“In the instance of a heart attack, in the first intervention (where they have to) install a ring, they can put it on," the minister said.

He also asked some operators about the mechanism of available facilities.

Minister Sadikin said he expects that there would be a sufficient number of specialist doctors as well to balance with the number of facilities.

He urged Endi to seek the best local doctors and encourage them to apply for the scholarships offered by the ministry.

"This year, there are 2,500 scholarship packages from the Health Ministry. (We) are seeking for those enthusiastic to learn," the minister said.

The Komodo Regional Hospital has been designated as the referral hospital for the 42nd ASEAN Summit.

The hospital has two VVIP rooms, eight VIP rooms, and thirty first- and second-class rooms.

It has a host of other facilities, such as a VVIP Emergency Room, a VVIP Intensive Care Unit, and a general operating room.
