Jakarta (ANTARA) - Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry helped 45 fostered micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in market expansion by involving them in the International Indonesia Seafood & Meat Expo (IISM) and Indonesia Cold Chain Exhibition (ICE).

The selected MSMEs have participated In the marine and fishery product innovation business incubation program (Inbis Invapro KP) conducted by the Center for Testing the Application of Marine and Fishery Products (BBP3KP) as well as technical guidance from the marketing directorate.

"These MSMEs have received various business development trainings. This is our intention to encourage MSMEs to upgrade and expand their marketing," Director General for Strengthening Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) Budi Sulistiyo noted through an official statement received here on Saturday.

Sulistiyo said the IISM Expo was an exhibition that was well-known among various marine and fisheries industry players.

This year, the international-scale exhibition was held at JIEXpo Kemayoran on May 10-13, 2023, and was attended by Argentina, Germany, Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Japan, China, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Head of BBP3KP Trisna Ningsih said his staff had prepared a pavilion filled with selected MSMEs from 32 districts and cities in 16 provinces across Indonesia.

"We hope that the provision of this pavilion encourages cooperation and partners in increasing the productivity and competitiveness of MSMEs in marine and fishery products," Ningsih remarked.

She noted that during the period from 2016 to April 2023, the BBP3KP had fostered and assisted 104 MSMEs in the marine and fisheries sector.

During the incubation period, MSMEs are given technical guidance, consulting and business development service assistance, facilitation of business licensing and quality certification, design and packaging development, as well as promotion and marketing.

"We provide technical guidance from upstream to downstream, from production to packaging and marketing," she concluded.

Meanwhile, Marketing Director Erwin Dwiyana said the IISM event was a momentum for the revival of MSMEs.

He said fisheries MSMEs were also able to produce innovative and quality products.
