Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the People’s Forum (Musra) his volunteer groups called the Relawan Jokowi held in the Istora Senayan indoor stadium here Sunday to address them regarding the 2024 general elections.

The Relawan Jokowi is a platform for all social organizations and volunteers supporting the president.

President Jokowi arrived at around 01.15 p.m local time. He shook hands and took pictures with several.volunteers before delivering his remarks at the event.

The person in charge of the event, Budi Arie Setiadi, said earlier that some 30 thousand volunteers would attend the Musra.

Setiadi, who currently leads the Pro-Jokowi (Projo), stated that his group would convey recommendations on presidential candidates for the 2024 general elections to President Jokowi.

The candidates were the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party leader, Prabowo Subianto, Chairperson of Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto, and the presidential candidate from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Ganjar Pranowo.

“They all (the suggested presidential candidates) have their own strengths," Setiadi remarked.

He noted that the suggested candidates were selected in accordance with the inputs and aspirations collected from various Jokowi volunteer groups throughout Indonesia.

"Later we will convey the three candidates to the president and let him decide," Setiadi said.

He had also invited a number of political parties to attend the Musra.

Besides Jokowi, Deputy Speaker of Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) Arsul Sani, Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor, and Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono were also present at the event.

Head of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Wiranto as well as two members of the Wantimpres -- Sidarto Danusobroto and Putri Wardhani -- also attended the Musra.

Several cadres of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) were also observed among the enthusiasts of the Musra taking place nine months before the presidential and parliamentary elections are held on February 14, 2024.
