Central Lombok has now been designated as a district of innovations
Praya, Lombok Tengah (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Home Affairs has socialized efforts to improve regional innovation in Central Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), as part of the government's efforts to boost the quality of public services.

"Today, the Home Affairs Ministry conducted a visit to socialize efforts to improve innovations and services in Central Lombok district," the District's Regional Secretary Lalu Firman Wijaya said on Tuesday after receiving the ministry's entourage at the main meeting room of the district head's office.

The socialization was focused on improvements in governance in the region through innovations that are in line with the expectations of the head of Central Lombok district Lalu Pathul Bahri, he said.

"The ministry has called on all regional apparatus organizations (OPDs) to make innovations in their services," the secretary added.

Government Regulation (PP) No. 12 of 2017 on the development and supervision of regional governments is expected to provide a stimulus to related parties to boost their competitiveness as well as governance performance, which, in turn, would help advance the regions, he said.

"Central Lombok has now been designated as a district of innovations," he noted.

Of the 10 districts/cities in NTB province, Central Lombok district ranks third in terms of innovation region programs. Meanwhile, the NTB provincial government has been granted the predicate of the “region of high innovations.”

"With that in mind, we should be able to make innovations for public services," he said.

To achieve this aim, he said, the district government has been implementing a number of programs, including improving services by optimizing available technologies with the aim of lowering the poverty rate and improving service quality by establishing a public service mall.

"The programs are being implemented in the hopes of supporting efforts to lower the poverty rate and accelerate development in Central Lombok," he said.

Furthermore, the district government will take measures to improve work performance. The OPDs, on their part, are expected to participate in motivating civil servants so that they can perform every duty in line with expectations.

"We will award officials (for their performance) during the Central Lombok anniversary celebration in October (2023),” he disclosed.

Each OPD is expected to innovate in several matters, including governance and public services that encapsulate the services of permit submission in the health, education, and public works sectors.

"We hope that we will be able to provide fast and easy services, while keep attaching importance to following the rules," he said.
