Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Religious Affairs Ministry has said that Hajj services for Indonesian pilgrims in Medina have been running smoothly and in keeping with the standard operating procedure (SOP) and targets.

"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), the ministry's Inspectorate General has supervised (Hajj implementation) in Medina. All (is being) run in accordance with the SOP that has been set and in accordance with the target," the Ministry's Inspector General Faisal Ali Hasyim said here on Wednesday.

The ministry's surveillance team inspected Hajj implementation in Medina in terms of six aspects, including services provided by officers, worship, accommodation, consumption, transportation, and others, he added.

He said his team paid special attention to accommodation and catering services and the kitchen.

According to the team's report, Indonesian pilgrims said that the catering menu was suitable to their taste and met their expectations.

"The main focus of our supervision is to ensure that the Hajj (service provision) is effective, marked by the level of the pilgrims' satisfaction," he said.

In terms of accommodation, Hasyim found no significant complaints from the Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, and the officers were deemed to have served the pilgrims well.

"There are some obstacles, but all of them are out of our control that we cannot predict," he said.

Based on data from the Integrated Hajj Information and Computerization System (Siskohat), as of June 13, 2023, a total of 142,514 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia in 370 embarkation groups.

Meanwhile, as per Siskohat data, at least 58 pilgrims have died so far: 28 in Mecca, 28 in Medina, and 2 in Jeddah.

According to the provisions, Hajj by proxy (Badal Haji) will be performed on behalf of those who are unable to perform Hajj due to sickness, old age, or death.
