"In Indonesia, there is no legal protection for domestic workers yet. Domestic workers' protection can be carried out if there is a legal basis," she said at the "Voicing Support: Ratification of Domestic Workers' Protection Bill, Domestic Workers Protected, Employers Guaranteed" webinar on Thursday.
To this end, she pushed for the ratification of the Domestic Workers' Protection Bill (PPRT bill) into law.
She said that domestic workers have greatly helped workers and businesspeople carry out productive activities.
She expressed the hope that the ratification of the PPRT bill would help improve the welfare of domestic workers.
The effort, she said, would be in line with the theme of the 111th International Labour Conference (ILC), namely improving social justice and promoting decent work for all.
The 111th ILC is being held in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 5 to 16, 2023.
Prihatiningsih noted that regulations regarding worker protection in Indonesia are still lacking compared to in other countries.
She then expressed the hope that the 111th ILC would encourage the protection of workers, especially domestic workers.
