The entire nation has the responsibility to grow Indonesian children's love towards Pancasila (Five Principle) valuesJakarta (ANTARA) - The Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Ministry has emphasized the need for instilling Pancasila values in children from an early age so they become a generation that understands and applies those values in their lives.
"The entire nation has the responsibility to grow Indonesian children's love towards Pancasila (Five Principle) values," the ministry's Acting Deputy for Children's Rights Fulfillment, Rini Handayani, said here on Wednesday.
She expressed the hope that Indonesian children will become pioneers in upholding the values of diversity, divinity, humanity, unity, democracy, and justice in life.
According to Handayani, both globalization and the rapid development of information technology have eroded the values of Pancasila in social life.
Such a trend can lead children, in particular, and society, in general, to start straying away from applying Pancasila's national diversity and unity values as the foundation of behavior in daily life, she said.
Therefore, the PPPA Ministry worked with the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) to hold a webinar with the theme "Pancasila in the Hearts of Indonesian Children."
The webinar was held with the aim of strengthening the sacred values of Pancasila in the hearts of Indonesian children as a perfect ideology that governs the national and state lives as well as serves as a reflection of Indonesia.
"It is in the hands of Indonesian children that we place the hopes and the future of the nation for a much better progress and sustainability of development in Indonesia," Handayani stated.
The 79.5 million children in Indonesia, who account for approximately 29.15 percent of its entire population, constitute a great potential for Indonesia, as they can play the role of agents of change in efforts to reinstill Pancasila values, which have started to fade in society, she added.
