Jakarta (ANTARA) - Eid al-Adha collective leave days on June 28 and June 30, 2023 are optional or based on the agreement between workers and companies and included in the workers' annual leaves, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah stated.

"Collective leaves are part of annual leaves," the minister noted during the press conference on Eid al-Adha leave days here Thursday.

"Moreover, the collective leave days are optional, based on the agreement between employers and workers and/or workers' unions," she remarked.

The government, through the Three Ministers' Joint Decree (SKB), set June 28 and June 30, 2023, as Eid al-Adha collective leave days.

Meanwhile, June 29, 2023, is a national holiday commemorating the 1444 H/2023 Eid al-Adha.

Collective leave days for workers are adjusted on the basis of the companies' regulations or work contract by considering the companies' operational condition and requirement, she explained.

Workers, who take collective leaves, will have their annual leaves rights reduced as stipulated in Manpower Minister's Circular Letter No. M/3/HK.04/IV/2022 on Implementation of Companies' Collective Leaves, she remarked.

Moreover, employees, who work during collective leave days, will not have their annual leaves rights reduced, and they will be compensated with wage like ordinary work days.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy stated that the 2023 Eid al-Adha collective leave days serve as a momentum that marks the transition from the COVID-19 pandemic to endemic period.

"This collective leave serves as momentum for transition from pandemic to endemic, as announced by Mr President," the minister noted during a press conference here on Thursday.

The additional collective leaves also drive the economy in the local tourism sector, especially since the momentum of the long holidays coincided with the school holidays, Effendy added.

With this, he expects that people can make the most of this momentum.
