Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Finance Ministry on Monday organized a state finance and diversity class for 987 junior high school students from across Indonesia under the One Nation Program, which is being held from July 3–7.

"The students are expected to get the benefits from seeing how we all love Indonesia by managing its finances," Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara said at the program’s opening here on Monday.

The class was held in a hybrid (offline and online) format in collaboration with Sabang Merauke Foundation.

It aimed to introduce students to the ministry's task of managing state finances and also teach them about diversity and tolerance.

Nazara said that the Finance Ministry manages the state treasury properly and transparently in order to maintain public trust.

The ministry takes care of state finances wherever they are, such as at airports and seaports through the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, he added.

In addition to introducing state finance, the ministry also urged students to learn about tolerance and diversity as the country has many ethnicities, races, religions, ideas, and income sources.

Indonesia is one in its diversity, Nazara underlined.

"We are all connected because our country is one, namely Indonesia. There may be different religions, traditional clothes, schools, ideas, and opinions, but we are one Indonesia," he said.

Hence, it is hoped that the program's participants would learn and interact and make friends from other regions of the country, he added.

The Ministry of Finance's One Nation program was launched in 2021.

This year, the ministry invited 119 junior high school students to attend the program on-site, both in Jakarta and at the ministry's offices in the regions, while the rest participated online.
