Indonesia sends one of the largest contingents, which was previously 84 scouts, now 1,700 scouts this yearJakarta (ANTARA) - Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo revealed that more than 1,700 Indonesian scouts will participate in the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea on August 2-12.
"Indonesia sends one of the largest contingents, which was previously 84 scouts, now 1,700 scouts this year," Ariotedjo stated at the Presidential Palace after meeting President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) here on Friday.
According to the president, Indonesia will promote its unique food and culture at the jamboree along with 25 countries participating in the event.
Meanwhile, Head of the Indonesian Scout Movement, Budi Waseso, stated that President Jokowi will dispatch the Indonesian scout contingent from the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on July 29.
"The president is expected to release the largest contingent from Indonesia to the World Scout Jamboree. From the total of 50 thousand participants, we send more than 1,700 people. This is extraordinary," Waseso remarked.
He said, the number shows that the interest and movement of scouts in Indonesia has become larger.
Waseso also noted that the president conveyed several messages to the Indonesian scouts that will take part in the World Jamboree.
President Jokowi urged them to introduce Indonesia to the world, especially in terms of the development and cultural identity.
Meanwhile, Minister Ariotedjo also mentioned the 2023 Raimuna Event, where rover scouts (Pramuka Penegak) and adult scouts (Pramuka Pandega) will participate in a grand camping held by the National Scout Movement.
"Raimuna will be held in Cibubur where 22 thousand scouts, in the age range of 16 to 25 years, are already registered (to participate in the event)," he stated.
This year's Raimuna will focus on creativity and youth.
"This is a breakthrough of the scout movement that wants to keep up with the times," he remarked.
The 12th Raimuna will be held on National Scout Day on August 14, 2023.
The National Scout Deliberation will be held in December 2023 in Aceh.
