The meeting is the fourth or the last meeting for the G20 Employment Working Group under the Indian Presidency 2023.
This meeting continued the discussion and finalized the ministers' declaration and outcome documents' draft from the three priority issues of the Indian Presidency EWG G20, Indonesian Ministry of Manpower's Secretary General Anwar Sanusi noted in his statement issued on Thursday.
The three priority issues are Addressing Global Skills Gaps, Adequate Social Protection and Decent Working Conditions for Workers in the Gig Platform Economy and Sustainable Financing of Adequate Social Protection for All.
The discussion related to the first issue is important, as it has become a phenomenon that occurs everywhere, he explained.
Meanwhile, the digitalization era is an inevitability, especially with the emergence of generation Z that has, since early childhood, interacted with the digital world. Moreover, there is a gap in digital skills or mastery.
Bearing this in mind, the question that arises is what are the accurate strategies to figure out the solutions, according to EWG, he stated.
At the EWG meeting, the ministry delivered several best practices, especially those implemented by G20 countries and G20 partners.
Meanwhile, the second issue has been discussed since Indonesia's Presidency.
This issue is particularly interesting, as its existence is a must in order to protect workers, he stated.
The question lies in how to provide this protection when several jobs are being digitalized, he noted.
The third issue is also equally important to be discussed, as all programs will not have an impact if they are not implemented continuously, he stressed.
