Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Indonesia, Petar Andonov, has expressed the hope of expanding bilateral relations with Indonesia.

"I would like to take this opportunity to confirm my determination to work for expanding the long-standing friendly relations between Bulgaria and Indonesia at the bilateral level," Ambassador Andonov told ANTARA here on Wednesday.

He made the statement while extending his wishes for Indonesia's 78th Independence Day, which will fall on August 17.

"On the auspicious occasion of the Republic of Indonesia 78th Independence Day, please accept my most sincere greetings and best wishes for the prosperity of the Indonesian people," the ambassador said.

Regarding bilateral relations, Ambassador Andonov expressed the hope that there will be increased cooperation between the two countries in political dialogue, trade, education, and culture.

It is also hoped that there will be increased cooperation in innovation as well as contribution to the strategic partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), he added.

The ambassador also wished the government of Indonesia success in its leadership of ASEAN.

"Let me also wish the government of the Republic of Indonesia a great success as a current ASEAN chair," the ambassador said.
