Jakarta (ANTARA) - Digitalization will be central to Indonesia's future infrastructure development, including in its energy and industrial transitions, according to Siemens Indonesia.

Technology has so far been the backbone of all major transformations in Indonesia's development, President Director and CEO of PT Siemens Indonesia Dr. Lamine Jendoubi said.

"Our focus is to make digital transformation easier, faster, and at scale so business and society can be more resilient and sustainable," he said in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Indonesia is growing fast and is aiming to become the fourth-largest economy globally by 2045, he noted.

To support that vision, Indonesia has embarked on initiatives to modernize its infrastructure, develop its industries to make them more competitive, and upskill its local workforce.

The coming years seem very exciting not just for Siemens, but for the company's impact on the overall business and society at large in Indonesia, he said.

Last year, Siemens announced its Siemens University Initiative Program, a collaboration with three prominent universities in Indonesia in the field of engineering studies. As a follow-up, Siemens has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

Siemens has a long-standing relationship with ITB, which is one of the prominent technology universities in Indonesia, he informed.

The MoA is intended for the development of the Digital Twin Ecosystems Program (D2TEP) to build a future workforce with technical competencies and job-ready outcomes that will meet the needs of business and society, Jendoubi said.

To celebrate its 50-year anniversary, Siemens held a series of action-packed activities ranging from sports and fun games competitions for its employees, in cooperation with its workers' union. Around 200 employees participated in a blood donation drive held as part of the activities.

To support a greener future, the company also collaborated with LindungiHutan and planted one thousand mangroves in Bekasi area, he said.

Together with the Indonesian Street Children Organization (ISCO), the company is also providing educational support to high school children who plan to pursue engineering in the future.
