"In principle, the Balik and Paser indigenous people in Sepaku are my people and their interests are also my interests. If residents don't want flooding then I don't want that to happen either. The most important thing is whether we can or not, we still maintain local wisdom and customs. That's what we are trying to do now, of course we need help from all indigenous communities," the Head of OIKN Bambang Susantono said in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday.
Susantono said that the OIKN wanted to introduce that the IKN region has a rich traditional traditions and remain sustainable.
Because of this, his party wants to start a tourism scheme which equipped with a number of facilities, such as homestays, restaurants specializing in local traditional food, as well as traditional life.
“Apart from that, there is a beautiful village that has a number of tourist attractions. But to make it happen, it must be done together, it cannot just be done by the government alone," Susantono said.
In fact, he continued, traditional leaders must also start being able to serve people well, if guests visit their place. It really has to be done in one program that can be arranged by the Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment of OIKN.
This was conveyed by the Head of OIKN during a discussion with four Balik and Paser traditional leaders, to provide an understanding of the importance of maintaining local wisdom and customs of the community in the IKN.
The Balik Traditional Chair in Sepaku Sub-district Sibukdin said that this kind of meeting was indeed his hope, because he could have direct dialogue with the Head of OIKN. If there is a program later, communities can convey it to the Head of OIKN, there is no need to invite many people.
"We are pleased with the Head of the Authority's presentation. We certainly provide full support to the government, in this case the IKN Authority, to build a capital city in our place," Sibukdin said.
