"(It is scheduled) in the second week of December this year," Hadimuljono remarked here on Tuesday.
The PUPR Ministry will conduct the trial and evaluate it. If it is considered successful, the MLFF trial will be expanded to other toll roads.
"After the MLFF is tested, an evaluation will follow, and if it is successful, it will be expanded. I must say that the (earlier) transition from cash payments to non-cash payments through e-toll card taping had its challenges," he remarked.
The minister explained that on the similar lines, the transition from e-toll cards to the MLFF system will encounter challenges in terms of the toll road users' discipline and behavior.
During the transition process and trial, the ministry will still operate barriers at toll gates to prevent potential losses.
"We will use the barriers at the toll gates, and when the vehicle registration data is complete, we will remove the barriers. These barriers are for preventing potential losses," he remarked.
During the MLFF trial at the Bali Mandara Toll Road, the ministry will continue to operate the e-toll card tapping payment system.
The Bali Mandara Toll Road was selected as the first trial location for MLFF since it is limited in scale, so controlled trials can be conducted.
Hadimuljono said his side will expand the MLFF trial on toll roads in Java after seeing the results of the trial on the Mandara Toll Road.
"If it is successful, it will be tested in Jakarta or in urban areas first," he stated.
