"The toll roads that can be used during the holidays are the Cikampek II South toll road in the Kutanegara-Sadang segment and the Solo-Yogyakarta-YIA Airport toll road in the Kartasura-Karanganom segment," PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono stated during a working meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Tuesday.
During the 2023 Eid holiday in April, the minister remarked that the Solo-Yogyakarta-YIA Airport Toll Road was only opened for the Pakis segment, while for this year-end holiday, the toll road will be opened for 13 kilometers long.
Regarding toll road readiness for the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Cikampek-Palimanan Toll Road was also widened to anticipate traffic flow from the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) toll road, he explained.
The work to widen the toll road has currently reached 95-percent completion and is targeted to be complete 10 days before the Christmas and New Year holidays, Hadimuljono stated.
Based on the PUPR Ministry's data, 2,816 km of toll roads are operational in Indonesia and managed by 52 Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) on 73 sections spread across Sumatra Island, with 865 km long; Java Island, 1,782 km; Bali Island, 10 km; Kalimantan Island, 97 km; and Sulawesi Island, 62 km.
In 2023, the toll road construction is targeted to be 410 km long until the end of the year. Meanwhile, until this November, 218 km of toll roads have been inaugurated or operated and the remaining 192 km will be opened for the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays.
The South Japek II toll road is listed as a National Strategic Project built through the state budget, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and private funding.
This toll road will connect the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) 1, JORR 2, and the Purwakarta-Bandung-Cileunyi (Purbaleunyi) Toll Road in West Java.
Meanwhile, the Solo-Yogyakarta-YIA toll road is connected to the Yogyakarta-Bawen toll road and the Semarang-Solo section of the Trans Java toll road. This toll road will reduce people's travel time and connect three airports in Solo, Yogyakarta, and Semarang.
Moreover, the toll road is built to support the Borobudur Super Priority National Tourism Strategic Area.
