Jakarta (ANTARA) - Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) Head Yudian Wahyudi embarked on a visit to Brunei Darussalam from November 21 to 24, 2023, to disseminate Pancasila values for Indonesian citizens (WNIs) in Bandar Seri Begawan.

During his working visit, Wahyudi is accompanied by BPIP's Deputy for Inter-Agency Relations, Socialization, and Communications, Prakoso; BPIP's Deputy for Studies and Materials, Surahno; and BPIP's Director of Study on Pancasila Development Materials Aris Heru Utomo

In a press release on Wednesday, the BPIP head and his entourage arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan on Tuesday and were greeted by Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Achmad Ubaedillah and several officials from the Indonesian Embassy.

During a meeting with Ambassador Ubaedillah, BPIP's Director of Study on Pancasila Development Materials, Aris Heru Utomo, explained that the agency's visit to Bandar Seri Begawan is in line with its 2020-2024 strategic program.

The program aims to instill the values of the national ideology of Pancasila in Indonesian citizens at home and abroad, he remarked.

"We are targeting Indonesian citizens abroad as well because they directly face foreign ideologies that might be inconsistent with Pancasila," he elaborated.

Keeping that in mind, he affirmed that the BPIP believes that the dissemination of Pancasila values to all Indonesians in Brunei Darussalam can be seen as the government's effort to remind its citizens of the importance of applying Pancasila values in everyday life despite residing outside Indonesia.

In Bandar Seri Begawan, the BPIP head and his entourage are scheduled to meet and hold a dialogue on Pancasila values with Indonesian citizens, conduct an inspection on the WNI protection shelter, and visit the Brunei History Center.

As cited from its website, the BPIP was established through Presidential Regulation No. 7 of 2018 signed by President Joko Widodo on February 28, 2018. The BPIP is a transformation of the Presidential Working Unit on the Development of the Pancasila Ideology (UKP-PIP).

The agency is tasked with helping the president formulate Pancasila development-related policies, disseminate Pancasila values, and identify policies and regulations that are possibly in conflict with the national ideology.
