Following this collaboration, UI delegates visited the two universities during an official trip to the United States from November 27 to December 2, 2023, UI deputy rector for human resources and assets, Dedi Priadi, informed.
The visit continues the collaboration with UCB in the Scholars Engagement Program for Natural Resources-Based Research and Innovation program at UI's Faculty of Engineering which has been running for one year.
The collaborative program is fully funded by the Deposit Insurance Agency (LPS), he told local journalists here on Tuesday.
At UCB, the UI delegates visited the Berkeley SkyDeck, the university's technology accelerator and incubator, to determine a benchmark for science techno park-related activities, he said.
They also visited the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (SCET).
The academic center within UCB's College of Engineering is a place for engineers and scientists to develop innovative works as well as produce and commercialize them, Priadi informed.
Meanwhile, at UCD, the UI delegates and their UCD counterparts discussed potential cooperation in dual degree programs for UI's engineering students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
They also discussed the possibility of having UCD visiting professors at UI and joint supervision of PhD students, he said.
Regarding the joint research program, UCD had asked UI to send its three best researchers to conduct collaborative research projects with their UCD colleagues, he added.
ANTARA earlier reported that UI, whose main campus is located in Depok, West Java, has been adjudged the best university in the country.
In the annual ranking of global universities released by Webometrics in January 2023, UI was named the best university in Indonesia.
UI Rector Ari Kuncoro said in a recent statement that the university has maintained its commitment to becoming an innovative, independent, inclusive, dignified, and leading higher educational institution in Southeast Asia and the world.
One of the efforts to globalize its education and research has been pursuing collaborations with reputable overseas universities.
UI's Faculty of Engineering, for instance, has also worked with Osaka University to support research projects that may lead to groundbreaking innovations and solutions for addressing global challenges.
