"I expect the building of the IKN District Military Command to become a reference for other kodims across the country," he remarked during the groundbreaking for the construction of the IKN Kodim building, as followed virtually in Jakarta on Thursday.
Jokowi affirmed that as a capital city and seat of the government, Nusantara must stand as a safe and secure region.
The president further remarked that IKN Kodim will be tasked with supporting security measures in Nusantara and protecting the city from various kinds of threats and disruptions.
"I hope that the existence of IKN Kodim will assist the government in building regional resilience, safeguarding IKN, and maintaining the country's sovereignty," he stated.
The building of IKN Kodim, being constructed on an area of 3.29 hectares, will be equipped with personnel's quarters, monitoring posts, a hall, an arsenal, and various supporting infrastructure.
In developing the building, the government is applying an architectural design that is consistent with the vision of integrating Nusantara with the forest ecosystem in its surroundings.
"I only have one message to convey regarding the design. This building of the IKN Kodim must be designed according to the green building concept," he affirmed.
He also urged against cutting down too many trees in the construction process of the building.
"This is a green zone, so the beautiful trees surrounding this area should not be cut down excessively. If possible, cut down no trees," he emphasized.
During the groundbreaking, President Jokowi was accompanied by Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) General Agus Subiyanto, Chief of the National Police (Polri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) Bambang Susantono, among others.
