Jakarta (ANTARA) - State railway company PT KAI Operational Area (Daop) 1-Jakarta announced that as many as 364,390 tickets are still available for the Christmas and New Year holidays, with departures from Pasar Senen Station and Gambir Station.

"The average remaining seats per day are 22,774 seats," KAI Daop 1 public relations manager Ixfan Hendriwintoko remarked here on Saturday.

Hendriwintoko stated that the Christmas and New Year holiday period is from December 21, 2023, to January 7, 2024.

Based on the KAI data as of Saturday at 6 a.m. local time, the total seating capacity of long-distance trains, both regular and additional trains, during the Christmas and New Year period from December 21, 2023, to January 7, 2024, is around 765,349, or 42,519 seats per day.

Meanwhile, 397,781, or 22,099 seats per day have been sold as of Saturday.

"The percentage of seat availability is around 52 percent," he remarked.

KAI Daop 1 Jakarta facilitated the departures of 125,247 passengers on December 21-23, with as many as 52,405 passengers departing aboard trains from Gambir Station and as many as 72,842 passengers from Pasar Senen Station.

"The data will be updated because online ticket sales are still ongoing," Hendriwintoko stated.

A total of 73 regular long-distance and additional trains are operated per day to serve passengers from Jakarta's two stations during the year-end period.

In detail, 39 trains from Gambir Station and 34 trains from Pasar Senen Station are operating during the holiday season.

"Passengers' favorite destinations from the two stations are Yogyakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Purwokerto, and Bandung," Hendriwintoko remarked.

He affirmed that all KAI personnel will make all-out efforts to ensure the passengers' comfort and prioritize safety both at the station and during the train journey.
