"Efforts to prevent tiredness in election officials can be carried out through ensuring their physical and mental health," the ministry's Head of the Communications and Public Services Bureau, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said when responding to a question on Wednesday.
Tarmizi also noted that local health service facilities will be prepared in case of an emergency.
Regarding the screening criteria for election officials, Tarmizi stated that all responsibilities lay in each health facility in accordance with existing provisions.
Tarmizi then invited all election officials to partake in health screening by reading the guidelines for Health History Screening and Optimizing Active Participation in the National Health Insurance Program for 2024 Election and Regional Election Organizing Officials published by the Home Affairs Ministry, the General Election Commission (KPU), the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), and the Social Security Agency (BPJS) Health.
BPJS Health has also urged all 2024 election officials to check their health readiness through a health history screening facility that can be accessed online for free.
"Election officials can complete the health history screening from January 2, 2024," BPJS Health Assistant Deputy for Public Communications and Public Relations, Agustian Fardianto, said on January 13.
Fardianto noted that health screening provisions apply to all KPU officers who work as the 2024 General Election and Regional Election officials, who are registered in the KPU officer data information system or the KPU Member and Ad Hoc Body Information System Application (SIAKBA).
Health history screening can be accessed via the JKN Mobile Application, the BPJS Health website, or the BPJS Health Chat Assistant (CHIKA).
In the 2019 General Election, the KPU recorded that 5,175 election officials had fallen sick and 894 officers had died.
