The themes raised in the second vice presidential debate for the upcoming general elections are natural resources, food, carbon tax, environment, agrarian issues, and traditional communities.
"Hopefully, the themes of this debate will enlighten us, especially voters, to know the views, visions, missions, and work programs that will be carried out by candidate pairs," he said while opening the debate in Jakarta on Sunday.
Previously, the KPU held the first presidential debate on December 12, 2023, the first vice presidential debate on December 22, 2023, and the second presidential debate on January 7, 2024.
The final presidential debate will be held on February 4, 2024, and will cover the themes of social welfare, culture, education, information technology, health, employment, human resources, and inclusion.
Indonesia will hold the 2024 General Elections on February 14, 2024, in which around 204.8 million voters are expected to participate. The campaigning period started on November 28, 2023, and will end on February 10, 2024.
During the elections, voters will elect president and vice president, as well as members of the House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD) at the province, city, and district levels.
Three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are contesting the elections: Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
