Phase I of construction includes construction of the Presidential Palace at IKN and the National Axis construction that is approaching 100-percent completionJakarta (ANTARA) - The IKN Nusantara Authority (OIKN) stated that progress in development for the construction of IKN phase I in East Kalimantan has reached 71.47 percent.
"It is based on the data from the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry regarding the phase I construction development started before 2023," Head of OIKN, Bambang Susantono, stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Phase I of construction includes construction of the Presidential Palace at IKN and the National Axis construction that is approaching 100-percent completion, he added.
"We will also build a Memorial Park at the National Axis. A Memorial Park is a place to pay tribute to the founders of this country, our heroes, and other significant figures," Susantono remarked.
In addition, he stated that a flag hill will be built at IKN to boost nationalism and the spirit to achieve the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
"Hopefully, this can awaken nationalism with a giant flag pole for the Indonesia flag at the flag hill. On the other side, we will build a large statue of our nation's founders, namely Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta," he revealed.
Susantono revealed that this idea was being finalized, especially the design, with directions from the design curator, Ridwan Kamil.
The PUPR Ministry has commenced the construction of a Memorial Park at IKN as a tribute to the nation's heroes.
The IKN Memorial Park will be integrated with the Civilian Plaza and Beranda Nusantara areas covering an area of 12 hectares that utilizes the second-highest point at IKN's Central Government Core Area (KIPP) after the Presidential Palace.
The IKN Memorial Park was built with a monumental concept called "egg breaking" so as to depict Indonesia's long struggle for independence with the help of the founding fathers, Soekarno and Hatta.
The figure of the two founding fathers is embodied in a statue with an eggshell and Garuda, with a height reaching 18 meters, which tells the story of their enthusiasm and thoughts in fighting for Indonesia's independence.
