The formation of the TPPK has been regulated in Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister's Regulation Number 46 of 2023 that was designed to fight violence, which is one of the biggest problems in Indonesia's education system.
"In this regulation, we encourage active participation of educational institutions through the formation of TPPK," head of the ministry's Character Strengthening Center, Rusprita Putri Utami, stated in a webinar on TPPK formation in elementary schools here on Wednesday (January 31).
According to Utami, the regulation was supported by several ministries and institutions through the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
Those ministries and institutions include the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry, Home Affairs Ministry, Religious Affairs Ministry, Social Affairs Ministry, Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM), and National Commission for Disability.
"We realize that this big task cannot be done by ministries and institutions alone but also needs the role of regional governments and active collaboration with teachers and educational staff," she remarked.
Members of the TPPK comprise teachers, school committee members or parents, and educational staff.
"The minimum number (of members) is three or odd numbers," she stated.
Utami highlighted that the TPPS must be formed by elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and vocational high schools by February 2024. Meanwhile, for early childhood education (PAUD) schools and non-formal educational institutions, the team must be formed no later than August 2024.
"We hope that the collaboration will be stronger, so that an educational environment that is safe, comfortable, and fun for all can be realized," she remarked.
