Leuwipanjang Terminal, which was usually filled with a lot of thugs and so on, is now cool. This will encourage people to use public transportation...Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo launched the Leuwipanjang Terminal in Bandung, West Java, on Saturday.
The president's entourage arrived at the terminal at around 12:50 p.m. local time, aboard a presidential car escorted by the Presidential Security Forces and regional security forces.
Jokowi also inaugurated the Banjar Terminal, which is at another location in West Java, online.
People thronged the inauguration area and welcomed Jokowi who was seen arriving in white clothing and black pants. People were heard vociferously calling out "Jokowi, Jokowi".
In his speech, Jokowi, accompanied by First Lady Iriana, stated that the terminals encourage people to use means of public transportation.

"Leuwipanjang Terminal, which was usually filled with a lot of thugs and so on, is now cool. This will encourage people to use public transportation and improve the connectivity of Bandung and Banjar to various cities," Jokowi stated.
At the inauguration, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Acting Governor of West Java Bey Triadi Machmudin, and Acting Mayor of Bandung Bambang Tirtoyuliyono, were also present.
The Leuwipanjang Terminal was revitalized at a cost of around Rp80 billion, or around US$5 million, and became operational in 2022.
Meanwhile, the Banjar Terminal was completed in April 2023 and was operated to serve passengers for the 2023 Eid al-Fitr homecoming season.
The inauguration agenda in Leuwipanjang ended with the distribution of t-shirts and books to the people gathered at the entrance gate of Leuwipanjang Terminal.
After inaugurating the Leuwipanjang and Banjar terminals, Jokowi headed to Soreang, Bandung District, to attend the gathering with members of the Prosperous Family Economy (Mekaar) Program.
